Evaluation Systems

I was on facebook the other day and a friend of mine posted a picture. The picture had quite a few 'lol' comments to it and I must admit it was funny, but also troubling when we stop to think about it..

Are we actually doing this to the youth of today? I believe so.. This brought me to a quote by the late great Albert Einstein.

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

As many of us know, Einstein is renowned as one of the greatest minds of all time, and he barely made it through school. How is it that someone who had unlocked so many secrets of our universe was deemed to have below average intelligence by the educational system he was a part of? How many other Albert Einsteins have there been who have not so lucky to have discovered alternate routes to realizing their potential?
The educational system is slow to mitigate this, and the problem isn't straight forward. I believe this is where extra-curricular activities come into play. Learning systems that are outside the rigid boundaries of the government educational requirements. These systems can allow youth to learn freely and express themselves in ways that can facilitate their growth and interest in subject areas beyond that of school. If these systems step up thier game hopefully the school systems can then follow.
